20 years ago, some of my colleagues in the industrial cleaning business tended to scoff at the idea of using rental equipment and a third-party staffing company. Today, it’s the business model everyone relies on! I thought, why buy 1 piece of 100,000 that only works on certain jobs? I thought why spend my time and money doing drug screening, hiring, comp claims, tax reports, background checks, e-verify, reference checks, unemployment documentation, quarterly/year end tax reporting, and so much more when I can pay a straight percentage of payroll and be done with it?
That’s exactly why I partner with Foothills Staffing. The benefit is obvious: this way, I can’t falsify any of my documents (a huge scamming technique in the cleaning industry) because of the third-party that’s included. Too often, small cleaning companies get all their insurance documents once a year, paying in the first payment and not the other 11. They are then in possession of a document that they can show in all their proposals, saying they’re covered for 12 months when the verification is in reference to the first month (not exactly honest).
